Dehydrated Sourdough Starter
Your sourdough journey starts here.
Getting a sourdough starter up and running from scratch takes time, flour, and patience. Our dehydrated sourdough starter skips the waiting. Made from our own live active sourdough starter, grown on Organic Better Bread Flour, slowly dehydrated into fine off-white granules that reactivate in just a few days with nothing more than flour and water.
The same culture. The same flavour. Just in a form that ships anywhere and can wait until you are ready to start your sourdough journey.
What makes it different
Our starter is built on certified organic Better Bread Flour from Canadian Prairie hard red spring wheat. No commercial yeast. No additives. Just a living culture of wild yeast and lactic acid bacteria that has been carefully dehydrated to preserve everything that makes sourdough worth baking with.
Wild yeast fermentation is gentler on digestion than commercial yeast. The long fermentation process that sourdough requires breaks down gluten and phytic acid over time, which is part of why so many people find sourdough bread easier to tolerate than conventional yeasted bread.
